Moving Toward Having a Schedule, Maybe?

Greetings, everyone!

I think the gross, rainy weather we've had in Vermont (along with the rest of the East Coast) has finally broken. Bobby put in the A/C units today, and it was hot enough that Lake Willoughby felt good instead of like we were reenacting the sinking of the Titanic.

We are continuing to prepare for Mereth Adethad, which is just over a month away now!

I have posted a few questions to the forum this week. I will include them here as well. If you are attending, if you can make sure you read these and answer them if needed, I'd appreciate it; you can reply on the forum or simply reply to this email.

The forum:

Question 1: Bobby and I are planning on hosting three (maybe four*) meals for anyone who wants to attend: a sit-down supper, a pancake breakfast, and a barbecue, all made with local ingredients. If you have any food allergies or other dietary needs, please let me know. (I don't need to know who is/isn't interested in coming to what yet. I'll get a head count as we get closer to the date.)

*Maybe four because, if Bobby and I can get our outdoor pizza oven built in time, we will add a pizza night to the line-up!

Question 2: I posted this list of things to do two weeks ago and realize in retrospect that I probably overwhelmed everyone! Sorry! But if you could revisit this and let me know if there's anything there you'd love to do while here and anything you definitely don't want to do, I'd appreciate it! I want to make sure that what we do is to everyone's liking.

Question 3: Is anyone interested in having a kayak available during the week? We have three kayaks in House Walls-Thumma (two single hard-bottoms and one tandem inflatable), but if we have enough interest in going out on the water, then we'll rent the extra(s) we need for the week.

As far as what we know is going down: I have reached out to my friend who manages the Newport Ciderhouse. She's psyched about the idea of having a Tolkien trivia night. The tentative date is Tuesday the 18th; once we have a date nailed down, I will let everyone know.

Several people are interested in reading or presenting something at our first-day event. If you expressed interest in doing this, start planning what you want to do! I will be reaching out to the library to secure the meeting room for Saturday the 15th. If you'd like to learn more, this forum post has got it:

I asked on that forum if we'd want to open it to the local public as well or keep it a private event. I am fine with whatever the preference is. If you have a strong opinion either way, please let me know.

That's it for this week. As always, please keep the questions coming and let me know if you need help with lodging, transportation, or other logistics.

All the best,
