Almost Here! ... and Yes, a Schedule (of Sorts)

Hi, everyone,

We are getting very, very close to the Mereth Aderthad. It is a little hard to believe; Bobby and I first began discussing and planning this a year ago, and now it is almost here!

Based on what I hope are finalized RSVPs, I have been able to make something of a schedule, which can be found here:

We will be hosting four meals (including lunch at Saturday's meet-and-greet/kickoff event). If you absolutely know you're not going to be at one of the meals, it'd be great if you could let me know so I know not to plan for you as we start buying food.

Please remember to bring anything you want to share with the group, whether that is artwork, a story, a song, research you're doing, a game, a movie ... you'll notice I kept a lot of space for TBD, figuring that planning too rigidly is likely to backfire as we get to know each other and decide what to do with our time and decide precisely what kind of nerding we want to do.

Also ... our weather has been rather irky lately. We've been getting daily rain showers--nothing to completely rain out a day but enough to foil our plans multiple times this week while my family was visiting. Given that we've been stuck in this pattern since May, I'm reluctant to make firm plans to do anything outdoors too far in advance. Daily temperatures have been in the low-mid 70s F/24ish C.

Unfortunately, the near-constant rain (and the fact that we live alongside a river with a swampy lowland on our land) means that the mosquitoes have been terrible. We keep White Mountain bug repellent on-hand at home and will bring it on any outdoor excursions we do, but if you have something that you know works for you (especially if you're one of those unfortunate souls whom mosquitoes view as an all-you-can-eat buffet), please do bring it. If you missed the last newsletter, I included advice on what to bring:

If you have questions or need any help or advice, please do not hesitate to reach out to me over email or text/phone. The Contact link on the site comes directly to me, so that's often the easiest way to reach out. If you've RSVP'ed, you can find my personal contact information and directions to my house in the forum. Please don't rely solely on GPS or MapQuest, as they very often get our area wrong.

Wishing everyone safe travels--I am so excited to meet you all soon!

All the best,
